This sub is full of comments like “I’m a chef and I’m going to work. Yeah, I’m putting you people at risk but I need the money.” “I’m a nurse, I’m not showing up. I’m scared for my family and myself.” “I’m a cashier and I’m calling in sick. I don’t feel safe and I don’t need this job enough to risk my life.”

What the actual fuck? Do you know how many people you are putting at risk with your decisions? Yes, you do need your job that bad. No, you do not have the right to risk the lives of others just because you’re scared. You’re a healthcare professional; this is your job. It is your responsibility to show up and do your job. If you’re scared, bring a mask with you. If you’re still scared, accept that part of your job is risking your life for others. This is what you agreed to when you accepted the job. This is part of your responsibility, your duty.

If you’re scared, accept that part of your job is to protect yourself. Bring a mask. Accept that part of your job is to protect others. If you’re still scared, bring a mask and sanitizer.

If you don’t feel safe, accept that part of your job is to protect yourself and others. Both of you are handling objects that hundreds to thousands of people will touch after you. Both of you are directly responsible for the health and safety of others. Both of you have it in your power to make sure that you and others around you are safe.

And both of you are fucking this up horribly.

Both of you need to stop, whatever you’re doing. You’re in the wrong place. If you can’t handle the responsibility of being a medical worker, get a new job. This is not for you.
