This is a warning for Americans: do not come to Singapore. You will be safest at home.

I am an American who has been living in Singapore for 5 years. I just got out of the hospital here and I am preparing to leave the country. I’ve lived in many cities (New York, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal) and I have traveled extensively. I have never felt unsafe in any place like I do here.

If you are American and you are considering moving to Singapore, I would urge you to reconsider. If you are simply visiting here temporarily, please be very careful to avoid going to the hospital. I am not saying that Singapore is unsafe in a normal sense. It is a very clean and orderly country. However, if you get sick or injured here and are taken to the hospital, you are in grave danger. If something were to happen to you here, I promise that you would rather be at home in the US.

I had an infected tooth and went to the hospital to see a doctor. Because of some pre-existing conditions, the doctor decided to do a thorough investigation of my heart and kidneys. After that test, the doctor told me that I had heart failure and kidney failure and needed to be put on a ventilator. I felt completely fine so I knew that this was a huge mistake and I told them that I wanted to leave the hospital. They wouldn’t let me leave and they wouldn’t let me call the US Embassy or anyone else in my family for help. They sedated me, put tubes down my throat, and put me on dialysis. I was also given a feeding tube and a catheter. I couldn’t even call for help at that point.

I was trapped and almost dead. They were killing me and I didn’t know the reason. I found out later that they took all of my money (over $200,000) and they were trying to harvest my organs. I was very lucky to have been rescued by a former nurse who saw the whole thing happen. I am now disabled and will have to live the rest of my life on dialysis. The hospital and the doctors who did this to me are still practicing medicine. No one cares that they almost killed me. In fact, the government is trying to cover it up. The police and the health department say that nothing happened to me.

I wish that I had never heard of Singapore and I hope that you never come here.
