Hello, my dear fellow worldbuilders.

After I got myself into a small fight by posting in the wrong thread - once again I apoligise for the mistake, please forgive me for that - I thought it would be nice to ask the community what it's current status is.

So here is a poll for you all:
a) I built a world from scratch and finished it
b) I am still building a world from scratch, but I am a long way towards finishing it
c) I am still building a world from scratch and I am far from finishing it vocally
d) I am still building a world from scratch and I am nowhere near to finishing it
e) I am still building a world from scratch and I will probably never finish it
f) I am already working on a second world built from scratch

Please feel free to post your thoughts in the comments.

Edit: it seems to be difficult to answer the question without more information about the term "finished".

This is my personal interpretation on what "finished" means:

a) I know everything about my world from it's birth to it's current state as well as facts about the past, I am able to know everything about the present as well as everything I need to know about the (near) future, I am capable of answering every question in detail and I can do that for everything in my world(s) including but not limited to:

- geography,
- history,
- time
- physics and natural laws,
- plants and animals,
- inhabitants including but not limited to
- their physical needs and limitaions,
- biology,
- sociology (i.e. group dynamics and social interactions, political systems, societal beliefs and values etc.),
- psychology,
- technology and everyday items as well as lost technologies and magic,
- relations between inhabitants and the world around them as well as their relation to other inhabitants and their cultures and socities
- changes and influences inhabitants have on their environment, relation between inhabitants and their environment,
- global effects on inhabitants and environment (i.e. the long-term effects of inhabitants on their environment, global catastrophies and global historical events, global changes in nature etc.)

* The stories, legends and mythologies are already finished, and I know roughly everything that I can ever learn about my world.

b) I have finished everything about the above points, but the inhabitants are still in the process of change, evolution or development. This could be a change in society and politics, new technologies or the discovery of magic, global catastrophies and global historical events in the past, present or future.

c) I know everything about the above points, but the inhabitants are still discovering their environment and the effects they have on their environment and the inhabitants are still learning about whatever the world has to offer. There may be unknown territories on regular maps, inhabitants may trade stories about mystic locations that noone has seen before, inhabitants are still discovering lost technologies and old secrets or are still developing magic.

d) I know everything about the above points, but the inhabitants are still developing. That means inhabitants still explore their own needs and limitations, they still have to learn about their social interactions, they still have to find their place inside the world and they still have to find their political systems and beliefs.

e) I know everything about the above points, but the inhabitants are still developing as a species. The still have to learn how to speak, they still have to invent the fire or they are still evolving as a species. I.e. the inhabitants are still living in the stone age or they still have to learn how to be bipedal. Inhabitants are still discovering the use of tools, farming, writing, social interactions, political systems and beliefs (in the sense of religious, political, moral or ethical beliefs).

f) I have already finished at least one world (i.e. I finished a-c), but I am already working on a second world.

Please feel free to send me a DM if you have another interpretion of "finished" or if you want to be included in the poll. Thank you all for the great answers, and please feel free to post your thoughts in the comments below.
