Furries are just trying to be part of the system, and yes. Fursuits are kind of cringe.

Furries are part of a wider social network. It's more of like a cult, where the majority of those people see themselves as separate from the rest of society. When there is a new anime or cartoon that becomes popular, the majority of the fandom loves the art style. The furries love their own hypertrophic degeneration of that style, and it shows in the way they are obsessed with the pleasing curves of the artwork.

In other words, it is a disease that affects the social and sexual aspects of a person's brain, and I don't think I need to go into detail about it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. It is the kind of thing that makes you say, "Eww, gross." And you know exactly why you are saying that, it's not just because it's weird.

Now, about fursuits. The fursuits are just a way for them to express their own identity as a human, not to associate themselves with an animal. Furries don't believe they are associated with a specific animal, but they believe there is an inner animal that they can't see, like a god. That explains why so many of them believe they have an animal spirit, or are wizards, or why the majority of them are into tarot and other belief systems that say things like "I am the avatar of a panther, and it is within me."

It's a disease, but it's a disease that is treatable, and it's not something they choose to be, but something they become.
