Permanently Delete

When I was in high school, I had an iPhone 3GS. I decided to make a stupid decision, and permanently delete the entire school’s email system. I went from several hundred unread emails, to zero. I was immediately proud of myself, until I realized how much shit I was in for. I went to my principal and explained the situation. He was not happy.

The next day I received an email from our principal. The email was an attachment to an email sent to the entire school. The attachment was a photo of my principal, with a caption ‘Fuck You’.

Each day after that, the same email was resent. The only difference in the emails were the different captions. ‘I hate you, ‘Get fucked’, ‘Die’, ‘I miss you’, ‘Wish I could kill you’. I really regretted that decision. I really hope that the principal didn’t send those emails. If he did, I wish I knew what went through his head every day as he created a new caption.

Anyway, this post is about the app idea, not my high school principal. Back on track, I’d like to create an email based game. The point of the game would be to be the last email left in your inbox. The game would begin with everyone subscribing to the same email list. When you delete an email, the person who’s email you deleted would be eliminated. The last person to be ‘alive’ wins the game. When someone is eliminated a notification would be sent to the remaining players.

How it would work:

When you subscribe, your email address is added to a list that looks something like this. Each player would have a code. It would look like this.

a - email ‘a’

b - email ‘b’

c - email ‘c’

d - email ‘d’

e - email ‘e’

This list would be updated each time an email is deleted, or a player joins. When you delete an email, the player that corresponds to that email would also be removed from the list.

I imagine the game could eventually become complex. Some players may choose to only open emails, and watch how they change. Others may email each other and team up. Some may just try to delete every email. Either way, it would be a game. This came to me about a month ago, after I worked a late night and took a nap. I truly wish I had done it already. I tried to convince a friend to do it. But I don’t think he will.

I’d just like to say that if anyone decides to make this game, it is based on my idea. Thank you.

TLDR; - Create a game where players email each other. The goal is to be the last email in your inbox. When a player unsubscribes someone, that player is eliminated.
