I (35F), bought a house with my husband. He passed away 3 months after we settled in, in a crash.

I bought my dream house with the man I loved, and when he was gone a week later, I was left with this massive house.

It was my dream home, but I had no desire to live there, and the memories were brutal.

So I rented it, fully furnished. I left everything there.

My husband and I were both into minimalism. So the house was fully kitted out with everything you needed.

I now live in a tiny apartment in the city centre, with the bare essentials, and our house is someone else's home.

He was an amazing guy, and even in death, he took care of me.

This house will forever be his, and in some ways, I'll always have him.

Your home shouldn't be tied to a person. Your home is where your heart is.

But in this instance, it's the best decision i made.

Edit: I've been getting requests for PM of address and lots of questions. Unfortunately, I don't think it's appropriate to post private information or the address. It's a home. It's lived in, and not a museum. The decision to rent it was to help me.

Lots of people have reached out with stories and kind words. I'm so touched. Thank you all.

Edit 2: I am not a realtor.

Edit 3: I am not a property developer.

Edit 4: I'm really humbled and touched by all your messages of support. Thank you for sharing your stories and reaching out to me. It's really made me feel like I'm not alone.

There are a lot of very kind strangers out there.

I can't respond to all the questions, but I message everyone back.

Be kind to each other.

Edit 5: I don't live in the USA. I'm definitely not American.
