Job matchmaking for essential employees

Very simple idea.

If you’re an essential employee and someone comes down with it, you just take a week off and you’re out the money. Its messed up.

What I think is we should be able to be matched up with temporary job placement and be paid the same wages and benefits we have in our current job. The same principle I just applied to the general population also applies to essential employees.

A mobile app or website which would do this, which takes your name, workplace, and area of expertise and which would then find someone with similar skills and expertise to take your place while you’re out. It could be used in really any situation where people are frequently out and need constant coverage. Emergency response workers, healthcare, and even retail jobs.

Edit: I don’t mean it in the sense that we can just seamlessly swap people in without any effort, and because of that the cost is the same and no one loses any money.

I think it’s completely reasonable for a person to be paid while they’re quarantining, or otherwise not able to go to work. I think it’s completely reasonable to train people in how to respond to certain emergencies, but if you’re a full-time emt it would be much more expensive and inefficient to keep a back-up crew trained and on salary in case one of your crew members needs to quarantine.

I think the government should be able to shuffle people around in specific jobs, if they’re in key positions and not able to go to work, they should be able to be temporarily replaced by someone with the same training and expertise, and the person being replaced should still get paid in full while they’re out, but the government could help cover this cost by temporarily moving someone else from a similar position into the role that’s been vacated.
