One step away from a potential kidnapping in a friends house

I have a friend who lives on the ground floor in a 2 story building. One night when I was sleeping on his couch, a drunk guy came to his door asking for a toilet. My friend lives alone, so a female voice saying “its on the right” is kinda weird. So I replied with a deep breath that he “can’t use it because the owner is taking a shit in there right now”. My friend was in shock but the guy outside played along by saying, “ok, I’ll go eat breakfast then”. Coincidentally and even crazier, one of my friends mother had told me the next day that my friend was almost kidnapped as a child after his father opened the door to a stranger asking for a toilet. Luckily it was a knowing neighbor.
