Subreddit is really riding on this narrative that Trump will run, win, and use his influence to help his primary bid. I do not think this will happen.

The Republican Party will not be dumb enough to choose Trump as the RNC Chairperson. Chairperson McDaniel will win or some other experienced Republican will win and not Trump.

My reasoning is that the RNC Chairperson is in charge of the presidential campaign. If Trump is Chairperson of the RNC, it would create all kind of conflicts of interests. The RNC cannot give Trump special treatment and ignore him at the same time. This is a huge liability and it will get Republican politicians in trouble. It is in the best interest of the Republican Party to not pick Trump as Chairperson if they want to maintain their Senate and House seats.

Another aspect to consider is that Trump, in the past, has not shown any interest in the Republican Party. He does not care about the Republican Party. He only cares about himself. He will continue to be the Republican Party boogeyman, but he will not take the RNC Chairperson role because he has no interest in it. He does not care about Republican politicians or the Republican Party. His entire movement is centered around him and not around the Republican Party or the Republican platform.

Edit: The RNC Chairperson is also in charge of organizing the political conventions. With Trump running for president, it would be inappropriate for the person running to be in charge of the political convention.
