MY LAST MEMORY

My last memory is of my mother screaming “I DON’T KNOW WHOSE KID THAT IS! YOU BETTER GET THAT NASTY ASS BABY OUT MY HOUSE!”. <br><br>In fact, my mom said that a lot. I was a stray baby. Some woman had left me on the porch a few days ago. I’ve been coming here for weeks because they had good food and a warm house, and they never seemed to notice or care. But now, all the sudden my mom was mad. She had just gotten home from getting me food, and as soon as she saw me, she started screaming. I don’t know what I did wrong, I thought she was always bringing me food because she loved me. I didn’t know how to make her not mad at me anymore. <br><br>I thought maybe she wanted me to leave, so I left out the front door, into the night. It was so cold, the snow was falling down like nails. The wind was so hard it made my ears hurt. I wanted to go back inside. I wanted my bottle, and my warm blanket, but I was afraid of my mom. <br><br>I walked down the street, I didn’t know where to go. Everything looked different. I couldn’t even find the park where I played on the swings and slide. The big oak tree that had markings on it that looked like a lady smiling at me was gone. I didn’t recognize anything anywhere. <br><br>I didn’t know how to get back home. I just wanted to go home. I started to cry. I wanted my mom. <br><br>I remember the sound of screeching tires, and then my vision started to blur and everything went black.<br><br>I don’t remember anything else. <br><br>-Except sometimes, I hear a voice. The voice is always distant. I can’t hear what it’s saying, but I know it’s talking to me. I try to talk back, to get the voice closer so I can hear it better, but I never can. <br><br>I like the voice. It’s so familiar, but I don’t know who it is. <br><br>I wish I remembered who I was.<br><br>****<br><br>I just used a prompt. After reading it, I realized I wrote a pretty sad and short story.
