A 33 year old male relative of mine got a girl pregnant at 32 “by accident” and now a 32 year old single mom is raising his child

My relative works in a job with no responsibilities, he works two days a week and has plenty of time to take care of the child. He literally just gives money to the child and child support to the mom and doesn’t lift a finger to help with the child. He hasn’t changed a single diaper and doesn’t care, and has even said that he wishes the child would die so he can be free of the burden.<br><br>He also doesn’t have any interest in the child, he doesn’t even buy gifts for the child, spend time with the child, etc. His friends ask him why he doesn’t want to be a good father and spend time with his child and he just says he doesn’t care, and they just drop it because he’s a male so he doesn’t have to do anything.<br><br>My relative literally doesn’t do anything for the child and nobody says anything about it whereas if a single mom neglected her child everyone would be all over her. I just don’t get why men are held to a different standard, I feel bad for the kid and really hope the mom can provide for the child and give them the best life possible. I’m not mad at my relative at all, just disappointed and feel sorry for the kid<br><br>Edit: a lot of people commenting that I’m jealous of my relative and his life. This couldn’t be further from the truth. I know my relative, he’s one of the laziest people I have ever met. He’s probably one of the most boring people you’ll ever meet. He complains how he’s broke and has to pay child support but I know for a fact he spends more money on useless junk and alcohol than the average person. He doesn’t lift a finger to help his mom with anything, he can’t even cook a decent meal and is completely useless. I don’t feel bad for him, I feel bad for the kid and do hope that the mom is his rock and his safe space and that she can provide everything he needs and wants. Like I said, the kid is 2 and my relative hasn’t even changed a single diaper since he was born, I don’t know what the hell he’s supposed to be “lucky” about. The kid doesn’t even call him “dad” because he’s never around
