Any other childfree people finally understand the phrase “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone”?

I born and raised in a large city in Asia. It was a nightmare. Busy, crowded, traffic, noise, fuss and hassle. I then moved to the countryside to live with my boyfriend.

The biggest difference I noticed is the amount of space. My house is huge and the landscape is beautiful. I have a big garden with plenty of flowers and I have no neighbours so no noise or fuss around me. It’s so quiet and peaceful.

This is so different from the environment I grew up in. I used to have to travel for over an hour to get anywhere and it was always crowded and noisy on the train. The streets were always packed. There was no space. My parents lived in a small apartment in a high rise.

I used to think living in the countryside was boring and I missed the city for the first few months. But after living here for over a year I don’t think I can ever go back to living in the city.

I also noticed that I really want to travel internationally. It’s been years since I’ve been outside of my country and the last time I did I was a child.

I never knew how much space and freedom meant to me until I had both.
