I always felt it was seldom mentioned - but how deeply it affects your decisions.

I know some people do not feel this way and it is 100% just fine.

But I have been thinking about it more lately and how freeing and better it feels not having kids. Everytime when I imagine myself having kids I get this feeling of immense burden, stuckness and just feeling miserable. Each decision ranging from the partner you choose, where to work, the house you buy, the car you drive, your leisure activities are all deeply tied to having kids. It can feel so suffocating and miserable to imagine doing what everyone else does and not have a choice in it.

While as a childfree person the decisions you make are yours, its kinda yours and no one elses. And I think that's always felt so amazing to me and I do not regret it. I am not sure how we went from deciding to just have kids because well, our parents had us, or just because.
