What to keep an eye out for, when stopping for gas in the USA

So I know this might seem a bit odd, but I’m going to be flying in the US for the first time ever as well as driving in the US for the first time ever in a month. I’ve asked my dad and he clams that Gas stations have disappeared in the States after the pandemic.<br><br>But I have also read that now there are scams at Gas Stations where they take your credit card info if you pay via card. Not at all gas stations but at select few.<br><br>I’m going to be driving from Florida to California in a month, and I’m not sure if I should be buying a gas station membership or not to avoid these issues.<br><br>What are your thoughts and tips for a first time American Gas Station goer?<br><br>TIA
