What do I do when I'm unmotivated?

*My lack of motivation was a problem for far too long, so I decided to do something about it.*

Today, I woke up late (1 PM is still morning right?) and I immediately felt like going back to bed. Why? I don't know. I didn't have a bad sleep, I didn't have a nightmare, I wasn't in a bad mood... I was simply tired and unmotivated and I didn't want to do anything. But I'm not lazy, I can assure you that. It was just one of those days.

I know you've also had days like this, where nothing seems to be enough to get you started. Even if you have a lot to do, even if you have a lot of energy, even if you feel good. Why? I don't know. It's just one of those days. But sometimes, "just one of those days" can turn into "just one of those weeks", "just one of those months", or even "just one of those years".
I know this, because I've been there.

I'm a software engineer, I have a good paying job and I'm able to do the things that I want. But even though I have a good job and I make a lot of money, it doesn't mean that I'm happy. I wasn't really happy with my life, because I didn't feel like I was getting anything out of it.

I was living for the weekends, for when I could go out and have fun with my friends. I was waiting for retirement, so I could relax and enjoy my life. I was waiting to be older, so I could have more experience and wisdom. I was waiting for the "perfect moment", but that moment never came.

So what did I do about it? I decided to stop waiting and to make my life better right now. I decided to not let my lack of motivation get the best of me. I decided to make my life more productive and meaningful.

I decided to start by doing the things that I had been putting off for so long. I knew that if I could do those things, I could do anything.
I started with the small things, like cleaning my house and washing my car. Then I moved on to the bigger things, like fixing my relationship with my parents and learning a new language.

I also decided to start doing the things that I had always wanted to do, but never had the chance. I started playing the guitar again, I started reading more books, and I started traveling more often.

And the best part is, I no longer feel unmotivated. I no longer feel like I'm stuck in a rut. I no longer feel like I'm wasting my time.

I feel like I'm living my life to the fullest. I feel like I'm getting the most out of every moment. I feel like I'm doing the things that truly matter.

So, what do you do when you're unmotivated? You do something about it. You stop waiting and you start doing. You stop making excuses and you start making progress.

You do the things that you've been putting off for so long. You do the things that scare you, because that's where the magic happens. You do the things that make you feel alive, because that's what life is all about.

And most importantly, you remember that motivation is what gets you started, but discipline is what keeps you going. So, don't wait for motivation to strike. Instead, create your own motivation and take control of your life.

I did it, and you can do it too.
