CMV: Most people make an effort to remain ignorant of the outside world so that they can feel better about their own life

I think that many people are unwilling to learn about the world outside of their own bubble because they are afraid of how much it will make them realize how much better off they are than the rest of the world, and they don't want to feel bad about it. I think this is true for several reasons, such as the fact that many people are willfully ignorant about how government functions and I believe it is because they don't want to find out that they were wrong. I also think that people are afraid to acknowledge how much better off they are than the rest of the world because they don't want to feel guilty for being so privileged. This is especially true in the US, where a large percentage of people are unwilling to learn about the rest of the world, and instead choose to remain ignorant of how good they have it. I also think this is why people don't donate to charity, or give to the homeless, because they don't want to acknowledge how much better off they are than other people. I think this because I know that if I were a billionaire, I would donate a lot of my money, and therefore I must be better than them.

Edit: I understand that this was not clearly written. What I am trying to say is that people are afraid of finding out how bad things are because then they will have to take action. They are willfully ignorant because they don't want to feel bad, and because they don't want to have to take action. They would rather remain ignorant.

Edit 2: I understand that this was not clearly written. What I am trying to say is that people are afraid of finding out how bad things are because then they will have to take action. They are willfully ignorant because they don't want to feel bad, and because they don't want to have to take action. They would rather remain ignorant. This is NOT a post attacking the poor or the middle class. I am attacking the wealthy.
