My (28F) boyfriend (35M) said he wanted me to be his Ellen (I tried to ask what he means, but he won’t elaborate). I’m really confused about what he wants me to do. Any thoughts?

My boyfriend would always make these references to sitcoms and stuff when he talks, so I’ll just go with it, even though it can be a bit confusing. Anyways, we live together, and when doing chores I’d just sing out loud “Talk to the hand, cause the horse is done listening!”, which is something Phoebe said in Friends once.

I can’t really recall what triggered it. I must have made some Phoebe reference, but my boyfriend seemed to be grinning at me when I’m singing along, and just said that he really loves that about me. I assumed it was because I’m quirky, but he said he wants me to be his Ellen. I asked him what he meant, but he just said that he wants me to be his Ellen. I asked him again what he meant. His response was again “I want you to be my Ellen.”

I didn’t want to push him any further because I know he’ll get upset, but I’m really confused about this. Like, what does it mean to be his Ellen? They’re fictional characters, but I just watched the show “Two and a half men” and it’s a reference from that show, right? So I suppose my question is what thing should I be doing to be his Ellen and how do I bring it up with him again?

EDIT:Okay sorry guys I didn’t expect it to blow up and I didn’t see that everyone was replying to my post. Sorry if I wasn’t more clear. I’m a bit embarrassed that I didn’t realize it was a Two and a Half Men reference, and that it was a male character, but yeah that’s what it is. For me at least it’s not a big deal, but we’ll see how he reacts to me knowing.
