Sony buying the Destiny developer Bungie in a $3.6 billion deal

The PlayStation owner has dropped another $3.6 billion in a surprise acquisition of Bungie, which is best known for the long-running Halo and Destiny franchises.<br><br>Sony announced the acquisition in a call with investors yesterday. Bungie co-founder Jason Jones will continue to serve as president during and after the acquisition process, the statement from Sony read. Bungie will operate independently and become an affiliate within the group alongside Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerrilla, Bluepointe and Light Speed Studios.
