ELI5: Why do I need to go to the doctor if I don’t have any symptoms?

I had a follow up appt in January after they discovered I have a cyst and was instructed by the doctor to return in two months. If I already know I have a cyst and I don’t have any symptoms, why do I need to get my vagina looked at every other month?
