or, if you prefer; Who am I? or What am I?

Please give your answer in the comments. The thread will be for others to critique your answer. This thread will be an in depth discussion of what the nature of self is. You are welcome to do as I have done and bring this discussion to other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

If you want to critique my answer, please keep your critique about the answer. For example, if you want to say that my answer is incorrect because I have not considered X, please go into detail about what X is and why X contradicts my answer. In other words, don't just state that my answer is incorrect. Go into detail about why my answer is incorrect.

Here is my answer to the question of the nature of self. I am a self conscious, self aware, self interested, self defended, thinking and feeling being. In order for me to be me, I have to be all of these things. If I am no longer any of these things, I am no longer me. And if I am not me, then who am I?

I am what I am in my own mind. A man in a suit is just a man in a costume. I am who I am to myself, regardless of what others see, hear, believe or understand when they look at me. When I am alone with my thoughts, I am who I am. If I close my eyes and imagine who I am, I am who I am, as long as I still think and feel for myself. As long as I think and feel for myself, I am who I am.
