Found out the hard way that, not only does modern society hate your guts, but it also seeks to punish you directly for the crime of being single and male.

I just got audited. The IRS took a huge dump on me because I'm single with no dependents. Never mind that I have to pay rent, student loans, etc. The auditor was literally like "ooh, you have extra money, so we're gonna tax it." It's funny too, because I'm still well under six figures. But I noticed that because I'm single and I don't say I have at least one dependent, the government thinks I'm somehow rich and can afford to pay to fund the welfare state through higher deduction rates.
