From a guy who's never owned a gun, has never shot one, and probably never will. I'm still solidly pro-gun.

* I'm pro-gun because I believe in individual rights, and the right to defend myself, even if I never need to use it.

* I'm pro-gun because I am pro-American. The founding fathers were all about using guns as a way to fight against tyranny. I understand we the people are no longer represented by our government, but I still appreciate the ideals that the USA was founded on and the history of our nation. The fight against tyranny is never truly won.

* I'm pro-gun because I have seen too many shootings in public places. I wish those shooters would just shoot themselves, but I know that will never happen. Shootings in public places happen too often for any sane person to be comfortable. I personally don't choose to carry a gun, and I also don't want to be a helpless victim. I want to have the option to defend myself and I want that option for everyone else too.

* I'm pro-gun because I am fine with criminals and police having access to guns, but I don't want to disarm good people. I know we can't keep guns out of everybody's hands, but keeping them out of the good people's hands? That's just insane. The police are never there in time to stop a shooting, they can only show up after the fact. If the police are too late and I'm also disarmed, then I'm screwed.

* I'm pro-gun because I believe that a well armed population forces the government and police to act more carefully and respectfully. When the people are armed, the police can't just do whatever they want. They have to actually be careful and use their training. Armed citizens force the government to act in citizen's best interest.

* I'm pro-gun because the second amendment outlaws the first. Without the right to bear arms, we are no longer allowed to say whatever we want.

* I'm pro-gun because I understand that this isn't a gun problem, it's a people problem. There is always going to be some small percentage of the population that is violent. The difference between now and fifty years ago is that now everybody knows about it. With modern media, we are all up to date on the latest shootings. When I was a kid, we didn't know about all the school shootings that happened elsewhere. I don't know how anybody can blame guns for the current state of society. This isn't a gun problem. This is a Facebook problem. This is a Twitter problem. This is a social media problem. It's a lack of community problem, it's a lack of God problem, it's a lack of mental health problem. It's a bunch of problems, but it's not a gun problem.

* I'm pro-gun because I can't trust anti-gun people. They make too many contradictory arguments and they lie about their motivations. No guns is not the answer. It's not even close to an answer. I also can't trust our government. They don't even want us to have free speech anymore. Do we really want to disarm? I know I don't.

* I'm pro-gun because I don't want to be part of a national conversation on gun control. I'm realistic in my expectations. No matter how strict our gun control becomes, it will never be strict enough. It's not about solving the problem, it's about virtue signaling. It's about being able to say I did everything I could. Even when there are still shootings, at least we tried. This conversation has already dragged on for decades and it should end. We should stop talking about disarming and start talking about how we can actually stop shootings. Stop focusing on the weapon and start focusing on the shooter.

* I'm pro-gun because I believe that if you give an inch, they will take a mile. Anti-gun people are always talking about compromise, but they don't know what that word even means. We can't compromise with people who want to disarm us. We can't compromise with people who want to arrest us for defending ourselves. Their idea of compromise is we let them take away our rights, and then they let us keep whatever they don?t take away. No, we need to stop compromising. We need to stop letting them take away our rights.

* I'm pro-gun because I believe in the importance of defending family. I don't have a family of my own yet, but I have a large extended family and several families that I'm close to. I want to protect them. I know they are all good people and they deserve to be protected. I would grieve for a long time if anything happened to them, and it's my responsibility to stop that from happening. This is personal for me. I know I have failed if they are ever victims of a shooter.

This is why I'm pro-gun. I don't think guns solve all of our problems, but I know they are an important part of the solution. If you are against me having a gun, you are against my right to defend myself, you are against my right to defend my family, you are against my right to defend society, you are against my individual rights, and you are against the American way.
