You can be religious and still believe that people are inherently selfish and destructive

I don’t know why religion seems to 100% exclude the blackpill. I’m catholic and I believe we should pray for people and try to help them, but I also believe that people are inherently selfish and destructive.

Even if people are religious and don’t want to believe it, they are selfish. One of the worst lies I’ve ever seen is how religion can help people become less selfish and more loving. Say what you want but I’ve been catholic basically my whole life and I’ve seen very little change in myself. I’m still a narcissistic, selfish, and depressed person despite praying everyday. If anything, it has only made me more cynical about people.

One of the most well known verses in the Bible is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” I like to read this verse as “We’re all so sinful that God had to give his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We’re so sinful, selfish, and destructive that not only did a god have to come down and live among us to tell us to stop sinning, but he had to sacrifice his only son for us to not go to hell.

But of course people wouldn’t believe it because they would rather be deluded than cynical.
