I hope this sub never dies.

When I moved from the US to Sweden, I only heard of this sub and the bugs as an issue in North America. I had no idea when you might have had bug intrusions in your house here, that your walls could be infested with those bugs too.

About two weeks ago, I opened my sliding glass door to let the dogs out and warm air out (it was 26f outside). I was about to close the door and saw a BC larva on the sliding glass door bug screen. I opened the door and saw a larva on the door sill and another one on the glass sliding door screen. I thought I had to dry the door sill because water was there. A few days later, I saw the bug again on the window, and, heart sinking, I saw another larva on the wall above the baseboard. I had an appointment that day so I had to leave and was so stressed out.

I came home, turned on the lights in the hallway and realized that there were hundreds of larvae wriggling on the walls and baseboards, and turning off the bright lights revealed thousands on the walls, ceiling, and floor.

It took me over a week to clean up the area. I could see that they were coming from the walls and ceiling. I took off the baseboards in three rooms and saw the thousands of larvae and adult bugs. I vacuumed up the bugs and larvae, and discarded them along with the insulation. Then, I caulked the walls and ceiling.

The problem I couldn't find is how they got out of the walls. I knew that there were some gaps on the edge of the windows, but there was nothing I could find that they could crawl through. I finally discovered that the wooden trim over the windows and doors was not properly caulked.

The good news is that I think I found the issue and have fixed it. The bad news is that I can't say that there aren't BCs anywhere else in my house. I have been leaving the lights on every night to keep them away. I am exhausted. It was so much work and I hope I never have to go through this again.
