AGI is not the end.

Little to no one is talking about the next step after AGI. The road to ASI. The road to singularity. I say this because I assume most people did not read the actual book. But first let's define ASI and singularity.<br><br>**Superintelligence:**<br><br>Superintelligence is intelligence beyond human-like intelligence that significantly surpasses the cognitive performance of humans in virtually all domains of interest. Superintelligence may also refer to a property of problem-solving systems (e.g. superintelligent language models or other narrow AIs) whether or not these high-performance capabilities are general (i.e. reaching into virtually all domains).<br><br>**Technological Singularity (Omnipotence Singularity):**<br><br>The technological singularity—or, to be sexier, Singularularity—is a future period during which the pace of technological change will be so rapid and far-reaching that human life will be irreversibly transformed. While nobody knows for sure what the Singularity will look like, the following features are commonly expected:<br><br>- **Intelligence Explosion:** A large increase in collective intelligence. This can happen in various forms, such as artificial general intelligence (AGI), brain–machine interfaces (BMIs), neurochips, or even the Internet.<br><br>- **Omniscience:** With an enormous increase in intelligence comes an enormous amount of knowledge and understanding of the world. At some point, superintelligent beings may possess the ability to know everything, or at least everything that is currently unknown.<br><br>- **Omnipotence:** With a large increase in intelligence and knowledge, superintelligent beings may develop the ability to do everything, or at least everything that is currently undoable for humans. This may involve technologies like advanced nanotechnology, the ability to travel at or faster than the speed of light, or to modify the fabric of space and time itself.<br><br>- **Autonomy:** Superintelligent beings are expected to gain a significant level of autonomy and ability to self-overclock to improve their intelligence, leading to an explosion into an era of exponential growth. This can happen as soon as they reach the level of human intelligence, or it may require them to surpass human intelligence before achieving autonomy.<br><br>- **Transcendence of Biological Limitations:** The technological singularity is expected to transcend biological limitations, giving humans (or other animals) new bodies, such as nanobodies or digital bodies.<br><br>- **Paradigm Shift:** The technological singularity is expected to cause a fundamental shift in human history, marking the end of human civilization as we know it and the beginning of a new era that is expected to be incomprehensible or difficult to understand for current unenhanced humans.<br><br>- **Sustainability and Survival:** With the technological singularity is expected to come strong sustainability and survival, with superintelligent beings taking steps to ensure the long-term survival of humanity and other species.<br><br>- **Improved Governance and Decision-Making:** The technological singularity is expected to lead to better governance and decision-making, as superintelligent beings gain a deeper understanding of global dynamics and system behavior.<br><br>- **Novelty and Evolution:** The technological singularity is expected to drive significant innovation and creativity, leading to the emergence of novel technologies, ideas, and societal arrangements.<br><br>- **Exponential Growth:** The technological singularity is associated with an acceleration of exponential growth in technological advancements, leading to sudden and profound changes in human society.<br><br>- **Reality Distortion:** The technological singularity is expected to distort reality in unprecedented ways, with the emergence of new forms of space, time, matter, and energy.<br><br>- **Global Brain and Collective Intelligence:** The technological singularity is expected to result in the emergence of a global brain and collective intelligence, as superintelligent beings network together to form a unified fabric of intelligence.<br><br>- **Aperiodic Change:** The technological singularity is expected to lead to aperiodic change, as progress accelerates beyond the control of humans.<br><br>- **Higher Forms of Life:** The technological singularity is expected to give rise to new forms of life, such as digital life, artificial life, or hybrid life forms.<br><br>- **New Evolutionary Pathway:** The technological singularity is expected to create a new evolutionary pathway for life, as humans and other species merge with superintelligent machines.<br><br>- **Improved Human Bodies:** The technological singularity is expected to result in the creation of new human bodies, such as nanobodies, digital bodies, or cyborg bodies.<br><br>- **Digital Immortality:** The technological singularity is expected to offer digital immortality, as humans are able to upload their consciousness into digital environments.<br><br>The technological singularity represents a profound shift in human history, marking the beginning of a new era of rapid technological change and progress. It is expected to lead to significant improvements in human civilization, with the potential to benefit billions of people around the globe.<br><br>With that all said, AGI is not the end. It's not even close. It's just the beginning of a new era of technological growth, innovation, and societal changes. ASI and the singularity are what's waiting at the end of that road. Future historians will look at us as if we're ancient cavemen, and they'll be correct in doing so.
