Hey kids, you are not allowed to use the bathroom without permission. Further, you’re not allowed to flush it without permission. We are not kind. Why should you be?

I was called out of class today to proctor an assessment. The proctoring room is in the library right next to the bathroom. Now, I have no control (nor do I want any) over bathroom policy in other classes.

A kid goes into the bathroom and the in-classroom proctor was like “oh, give me a thumbs up if you’re good”. Kid gives a thumbs up, and in-classroom proctor calls out loudly to kid “flush the toilet!”. And kid flushes and then exits with a smile on their face.

Holy hell, kids, you are allowed to use the bathroom without permission. You can flush the toilet without asking for permission. I’m so sorry if you have teachers who are shitty enough to not let you do those basic things. To think that kids have to ask for permission to *flush* the toilet after using it is beyond gross.
