ELI5: Why do people hate the police and the protesters equally? And what is wrong with the system?

I don’t understand why people are mad at the protesters, i don’t understand why people are mad at the police, and i don’t understand why people don’t think there is a problem with the system. Like i am just a kid, and i don’t know what the f is going on. Please explain it to me like i am five.
