What is the anti-AI movement, and what is its alternative?

I’ve seen many posts about the risks of AI for society. These risks are well-documented and terrifying in their potential consequences.<br><br>I’ve seen many posts discussing AI’s past successes. While these are interesting and informative, they don’t offer a vision for the alternative, nor a detailed plan to build it.<br><br>So I’ll try to paint a picture of what I think an anti-AI world looks like— using only available technology. How can we organize it? What are the benefits and drawbacks? And why does the alternative vision matter?<br><br>I’m not seeking to answer these questions, but to stimulate debate. I hope that my readers will offer their perspectives, critique and build upon mine, and do so before the window of opportunity closes. The emergence of this vision, and the movement it inspires, may be our last chance to create a different future.
