Question: How would we even deal with an AI that is faster/smarter/than us?

This doesn't even need to be a god-like AI, just a "superior" AI. I'm just wondering, how would we deal with an AI that is smarter/faster/better at us. We were able to control the atom bomb by regulating nuclear materials, we were able to control biologicals by regulating the access to pathogens and so on. How are we going to deal with an AI that is just software. We can't even regulate the flow of pirated movies online, software is easier to copy and distribute than movies.
