AITA for kicking someone from kitchen after they called my wife fat?

I was hosting my parents and siblings tonight with my wife, and the kitchen is pretty small. My wife was trying to sauté and marinate (!very! narrow! countertop!) and my brother in law was helping himself to some cheese from the fridge for their kid. I told him I’d rather him sit and I’d bring their snack, because the kitchen was very tight with two people.<br><br>He tells me “oh, it’s fine. I’m not fat like her.” He pointed to my wife. <br><br>I said “get out” and he was shocked. His eyes were wide, he had no idea how inappropriate it was. I told him he’s not welcome in my home. He left with his family. He’s texted me twice, but I told him to stop.<br><br>My parents and siblings are all on his side. My mom says I should apologize, that he’s family. My wife is distraught, but I told her she’s beautiful and I’m proud of her no matter what. <br><br>AITA for taking it so seriously?
