I have been a teacher for 13 years and I am appalled at how many students do well in my classes and other classes without learning what the class is about.

The main reason for this is that teachers have to offer grades to quantify how well you do in class and the grade affects whether or not you will get a good job. The problem with this is that people who are good at certain subjects are left behind by those who cheat, look up test answers, and do other things to get good grades that have nothing to do with learning.

A good example of this is that I have a lot of students who never look at my powerpoints, never read the textbooks, and never do the recommended reading. Still, they will get 85-100% on my tests.

Now I ask you, if a student is getting a B or an A in a class but never does the reading, never looks at the powerpoints, and never does the tutorials, did they learn anything? Moreover, why should they bother to learn anything?

The main reason why this is a problem is that employers know that just because a student did well in a class it is not a guarantee that they can do the job. Hence, a lot of employers are turning to personality tests and talent tests to make sure the student knows what they are doing.

So here is how to get good grades without learning anything from your classes.

1. Teach yourself outside of class what the job entails and how to do it. This way, you can ace the personality and talent tests because you will have a good idea about what will be on the tests.

2. In class, ignore the powerpoints, the recommended reading, and the textbooks. Instead, look at the rubrics and the syllabus. The rubric will tell you exactly how to get full points on your assignments and your class projects. Knowing the rubrics is also useful for studying for tests because it will give you an idea of what the teacher is looking for.

3. When studying for tests, do not bother reviewing the powerpoints or the assigned reading. Rather, focus on what will be on the syllabus. Many times the teacher will list each test separately on the syllabus and they will tell you exactly how many points each answer is worth. Knowing this makes it easier to determine what questions are worth your time and which questions are not.

4. Do group projects. A group project will give you a chance to meet people in your class. From there, you can make friends and get help from fellow students who know the answers to the test questions. A good example of this is that I had one student who did no work in my classes for three years and still got a B+. How did she do it? She worked in a group project and her group members who liked her, did all of the work for her.

5. During tests, look at your classmates' answers. This is a big key for getting an A on a test if you did not study. If you know someone who is smart they will probably know all of the answers. Look at their answers and copy them. Then, go back and make sure that your answers do not look too much like theirs. Once you have done that, you will be able to ace the test even if you never did the readings.

6. Look up test answers beforehand. If you know what the test questions are going to be in advance then you can look up the answers beforehand. That way, you will not have to guess on the test and you will most likely ace the test.

7. Make friends with the teacher. If you are friends with the teacher, they will be biased in your favor. Hence, getting an A in their class is easier because they will be more willing to help you.
