Has anyone else noticed how the term "misogyny" has become widely used recently?

It seems like the word has become part of mainstream popular vocabulary. Suddenly the news is talking about it all the time, and they actually using the word "misogyny" (unlike a couple yrs ago when they'd just use the term "misogynistic"). Suddenly all these men are speaking out claiming they are against misogyny.

I wonder if this is an attempt to create the illusion that society as a whole has made progress in tackling patriarchy, but in reality all that's really changed is their methods of controlling women aren't as overtly inhumane.
