Hello!

My name is Cody Runnels, I'm 25, and a freshman in college. I'm in Software Engineering. I'm a member of the honor program, and I've been coding since I was 12. I have no social life, all I do is code.

I've been using Google religiously for 2 reasons:

1. Studying; I have been putting all of my faith in Google for studying. I will literally memorize a practice problem, then google the solution. I feel that I have wasted a huge amount of time doing this. I can't count how many hours I've wasted doing the "google->memorize->repeat" routine.

2. Professional/Personal Coding; A few months ago, I started taking contracts for coding. I would sign a contract, then start looking up solutions. Again, this is time wasted doing the "google->parse->repeat" routine. This caused me a ton of headaches as I had to put in a ton of time without any pay because I still hadn't figured out how to do anything. I have been wasting my time doing this for months and I felt like I needed to quit.

I've come to the realization that doing this is just a huge waste of time. So I have decided to take three actions:

1. I deleted my browser history and all of my bookmarks.
2. I am using LeechBlock to block any instance of Google. I am allowing myself 1 hour of google every Sunday.
3. I purchased a subscription to Chegg. I am using this as a last resort, so that I don't feel the need to go to Google.

I want to see how long I can go without using Google. I feel that this will force me to actually learn. My biggest goal is to make it a month without using Google. My first goal is to make it a week.

Anyways, I wanted to share this with the community first before I started. I wanted to see if you guys had any thoughts on this. I will post an update next week if I make it.
