Doppelganger stalker?

I've been reading a lot of posts of people that have had stalkers that look just like them in the face, so I thought I might as well share a recent experience I had.

Until recently, I worked at a restaurant. I've been in the industry for years, but this particular restaurant was the first time I ever felt like I couldn't be in control, if that makes sense. I just constantly felt unsafe. Usually, I know exactly how to handle difficult guests, but this one had me shook.

The extremely good looking woman (she was tall too, with curly hair and pretty features) in her mid 30s came to my station. She was a table of 2 and her male companion. The guy was very short and not very good looking.

She asked me questions about the food and made some really great picks. I noticed that when she ordered, she was saying things that I usually say. She had a very similar vocabulary and pronunciation that I do.

I thought that was a little odd, but was very relieved that I didn't have to babysit her table. They were very chill, orders made sense.

The next day, I saw her. Same table, same menu. She ordered the same dishes, exact same questions. I'm starting to think she's a regular. No big deal. The male companion was there again. I don't really like confronting people because it's always a headache, but I decided to try to build a connection with her. I was asking her questions and she was pretty nice, but just in a very awkward way. I thought maybe she was on the spectrum. I don't know what made me feel so uneasy. It's like she was mimicking me.

I also noticed that she never ordered wine, and she doesn't ask me any questions unless I ask her a question first.

I didn't see her for a couple of days, and I thought that was a little weird. I was wondering if I had just imagined it. But then, the next day she's there. Same male companion, same everything. It's like groundhog day.

I was trying to change things up, so I asked her if I got her order right and she said yes, it's always the same. I was asking her more questions, trying to see if I could break through whatever barrier there was, and it was clear we had absolutely nothing in common. We exchanged small talk for a little while, but it wasn't really a conversation. Then, she said "You know what, I'm not very hungry today. I don't think we're going to eat here. But can I ask you something?"

I said sure. And she said "I just wanted to let you know that you're very beautiful and thank you for chatting with me." And I was just like woah. That was not where I expected this to go. I just kind of laughed awkwardly and said thanks. They ended up sitting at the bar and drinking a couple of glasses of wine before leaving.

It was just weird.

She didn't come back for a couple of days, and I thought I'd never see her. Then, the next day, she's there. Same table, same male companion.

And she just sits there staring at me. It was very creepy. She ordered a couple of tapas dishes and then just sat there, not saying a word to anyone. A couple at the next table asks me for bread, and I notice that she looks over at the bread whenever I give them a piece. I was thinking "this is insane" because I thought I had imagined that part. Then she orders more bread. And more bread. And more bread.

I thought that maybe she was just lactose intolerant and didn't want to drink milk, so she was eating all the bread. So I decided to bring her a big basket with a big pat of butter. When I brought it to her, she just looked at the butter and didn't say anything. Then she asked me if I was sure it was real butter. I said yes, I saw the chef drop it in the warmer. She said oh, ok. Thanks.

I don't know what the fuck is going on at this point. I just want her to leave so I can go and cry in the bathroom.

She didn't order any more food and the couple next to her was starting to get ready to leave. I had to put out more bread and I thought "fuck I don't want to give her any more bread" so I just put the bread basket on the table and walked away. She said "Oh, thank you" sarcastically, and her companion just kind of looked at me.

I moved on to my other tables and forgot about her for a minute. Then suddenly, I just don't feel right. I feel like something is off. I look over at her table and it's empty. But her napkin was crumpled up like she had left in a hurry.

I was going through the checks from my section and hers was the only one missing. At first I thought that maybe I had missed it, but then I found it covering the bottom of her water glass. She had written "You're so beautiful" on the receipt in red ink.

If I hadn't been so shaken up by the whole experience, I would have thought it was funny. But it just seemed creepy and insane. I showed it to my coworkers and we were all in agreement.

She didn't come back after that.

A few nights later, I had just clocked out of my shift. As I was walking out of the restaurant, I saw her. Same curly hair, same face. She was standing by the hostess stand, but it wasn't her. It was me. Or at least my doppelganger.

So to doppelganger lady, let's not meet again.
