Why do parents want their kids to become teachers?

As an early career teacher, I’ve been shadowed by a few high school students, talked to parents of my elementary aged students who want their kids to be teachers, and had a college student sit in on my classes too. <br><br>When I asked students if they would want to teach… the answer is a hard no. Why else would parents want their kids to pursue this profession? I love teaching, but I don’t want my hypothetical kids to become teachers, I want them to have better careers where they have better support, resources, and pay.
