Deities and Mankind

Ok so I have been playing with different ideas about religion and gods, and I was wondering if this had been done before. And if so how? <br><br>I call this idea the "six" (not to be confused with the idea of the "six" in The Expanse). So in my world there are 6 deities who are venerated by Mankind. They are a reincarnated soul. The 6 are 6 aspects of Mankind, embodied as a powerful physical spirit that can be worshiped. <br><br>So your 6 are: <br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Grove the protector (the aspect of man's desire to protect and preserve) <br><br>Erebus the destroyer (the aspect of man's destructive nature) <br><br>Fenris the guardian (the aspect of man's love and loyalty) <br><br>Nyx the healer (the aspect of man's gentility and kindness) <br><br>Xandros the sentinel (the aspect of man's vigilance and cunning) <br><br>And Vylonia the wisdom keeper (the aspect of man's wisdom, intelligence and creativity) <br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>So this idea is that these 6 different spirits embody different aspects of mankind. And as you live your life, you venerate the aspect of yourself you find most important. For example if you are an empathetic healer you venerate Nyx, the healer. In death your soul is absorbed by the aspect you most identify with, and when it is time for you to be reincarnated your soul is imbued with the spirit of the aspect you are most aligned with. <br><br>For example the Hunter is aligned with Xandros, the sentinel. And has a spirit of cunning and vigilance in their soul. <br><br>I've been reading a lot about different gods and the kinds of gods they are, so I am curious as to whether anyone knows of a similar idea of a single kind of god being split into different aspects of the same concept to be worshiped. <br><br>This is more about aspects of mankind, instead of say aspects of the world like war, agriculture, and fertility, which are common in many pantheons so I thought this was a pretty unique idea. I'd love to be wrong, because if this idea is out there being used I would love to learn more about it.
