ELI5: To open a brand new bottle of argan oil, I need to poke a very thin metal needle through the plastic seal. What is the point of a plastic seal if I can get past it by just poking it with a needle?

I thought a plastic seal was meant to prevent people from opening a bottle and testing it in the store, but if it can just be easily poked with a needle then that doesn’t make sense.

Tldr: there is a plastic seal over the opening of the bottle that you need to use a needle to open. How does this make sense if the purpose of a plastic seal is to keep people from opening a bottle in the store?
