What’s with all the “entry level” jobs demanding 2+ years of experience?

Fresh out of school and looking for an entry level job in data science for my first career move.

Every listing and every person I talk to says the same thing, “yeah they don’t call them entry level jobs because they want 1-2 years of experience.”

That’s called an “experienced” position. I’m already experienced in a field and I’m looking to switch. I feel like these companies want to pay someone a lower salary but still get an experienced employee.

My conclusion is it’s not a good idea to list a job as entry level, then require experience.
