Need help with code formatting for a friend

I'm a writer by trade, not a developer, but I have a friend who wants to change careers and go into coding. They've been doing well during this period with online classes but I am happy to help if they want to run their code by me.<br><br>The problem is, I have NO idea how to format this properly. I've worked with LaTeX and markdown, but this stuff is foreign to me.<br><br>So, if I wanted to paste a chunk of code here, how would I do it so it looks like it is supposed to?
