This sub might just have changed my life

I just turned 20 and I've gotten a job with a pretty decent salary. My dad is very frugal and told me we'd be able to live off of half my pay and invest/save the other half. I didn't really believe it though, so I've done a bit of research and it seems like a 50% savings rate is pretty unheard of for someone my age.

I've decided to take control of my finances by calculating my expenses and making a budget for myself, and it seems like I'll be able to save around 60% of my income. I've read about the FIRE movement in some of the posts here and it seems like something I'm really interested in working towards. I feel like I've come to a turning point in my life, and having so much control over my life path has made me feel more mature already.

Right now I'm just trying to accumulate enough for an emergency fund, but once that's out of the way I plan on investing as much as I can. I feel like I have a massive headstart because of my age, and if I play my cards right I'll be able to retire very early. It took me just a couple of days to get this far in my journey, and I one hundred percent would not have gotten here if not for this sub. Thanks y'all

Edit: thanks for all the awards everyone :)
