I saw a man try to abduct a woman

A few months ago, I was walking my dog through a park. I was walking along a path I had never seen before, but was parallel to the one I usually took home from the off-leash dog park. When we were about fifty feet from the parking lot, I saw a woman about 30 feet away from me walking in my direction. She was walking alone, no dog. About 10-15 feet behind her was a man in his late 30s or early 40s. His pace was the same as the womans, obviously following her.

I immediately felt uneasy as something felt wrong. I looked around and didn't see anyone else. I knew if I yelled at the man, he would run away, so I decided to do something else. I pretended I was her boyfriend by calling her over to me and acting like we had been dating a long time. I called her an old nagging nickname that I use for my girlfriend for her to come pet my dog. She looked at me startled, but saw I was looking at her and then back at the man behind her. She looked scared but came running up to me and started petting my dog. I put my arm around her and we talked about random topics like what we were going to make for dinner. The whole time, I was looking at the man. He did stop about 10 feet from us and just stared for about 30 seconds before turning around and walking away at a fast pace.

I asked her if she was ok and she said yes. I told her that I thought the man behind her was going to abduct her and she told me she thought the same thing. We talked for a few more minutes and went our own ways.

I'm 100% positive the man was going to hurt her. If I hadn't been there, she would have been abducted. If I wouldn't have called her over to me, she would have been abducted. I feel forever changed after that incident and I don't think we will ever meet again.

Edit: She told me she had been to the gym and was walking home. They both left at the same time and she noticed he was following her.
