I remember when the days of GPT3.5 were the norm. I remember when GPT4 first came out and everyone was like "wow, this is the future".

No one would have imagined at that time that there would be a GPT5 in early 2024 and that GPT4 would be a standard for most people and now a norm.

I remember when everyone would switch to Claude because it was better than GPT3.5. I remember when everyone raved about Palms release.

Now, everytime a new model is released, there is something better out in a week.

People were willing to pay for GPT3.5 because that was the future. And don't even get me started on Socratic Systems which people thought was better than GPT4.

The reality is that there is no loyalty now. People will generally have 2-3 chatbots on hand. When a new one is released, they test it out for a while, leave the others to see if its good enough to merit them leaving their current one.

When they feel they need something else, they switch again.

According to the surveys I've been in and people that I've talked to, no one is loyal to the provider anymore.

The days of "oh I'm just gonna use OpenAI's model and feel bad if I use someone else's model" are in the past.

I remember when people spent hours trying to figure out to have a custom prompt - because OpenAI was the place to be.

The reality is now that people will switch faster than ever. If Claude 3.0 is released and has an API and it will be better than viper, I'm sure people will - actually, I know people will switch.

People will switch to the best available model faster than anything. The reality is, people don't care about provider, but they care about - what is the best client for me to fulfill my needs.

I'm starting to realize that the majority of people will just take the best option and move on. The days of viper, palm, etc. are coming.
