So THIS is how my dog got pregnant.

So I have this dog. She's an amazing girl, and I love her to death. She's so sweet and playful. I got her as a rescue, so I had to keep her intact for the first year. <br><br>She's about 13 months now, so we take her for her spay surgery. The vet does the normal "we're keeping her overnight," and I'm just like "Okay, she's already spayed, so I just need to come back tomorrow." I ask "Do I need to be here at a certain time to pick her up?"<br><br>"Oh, yeah, she's pregnant." <br><br>WHAT. HOW. WHO THE HELL WAS IT. <br><br>The doctor tells me this is a first for him. He's been a vet for roughly 30 years, and has never heard of this happening. And I was just like... "So, what do you do?" <br><br>"You can either abort them, or we can take them out and spay her anyway." <br><br>I was like, "Well, you're taking the babies out aren't you?" <br><br>So I have to be there at 3:00 to pick her up. We get there, and they're like "Oh you can't see her yet, she's still dizzy." <br><br>And I was like, "She's pregnant, right?"<br><br>"Oh yeah. She had three babies inside her. We're gonna have to show you pictures."<br><br>At this point, I'm just wondering what in the world, so they bring out this cell phone, and show me pictures of three tiny baby dogs laying on the table. All of them were dead, of course, but they didn't look deformed or anything. <br><br>I'm just like, "Well, she had to have had sex, so can we do a DNA test on her, and see who the father was?" <br><br>And they said sure, we'll take a cheek swab and put it in for DNA testing. So they took the swab, and said that it would be a few weeks before the results got back.<br><br>I go home, and I'm just thinking about it, so I decided to put some pictures of my dog on the neighborhood lost and found page, to see if anyone was missing a dog. I put a few pictures of her as a pup, and they're just like "Oh is that the pregnant dog?" <br><br>And I was like, "Oh yeah." And I explained that she got pregnant before we got her spayed, and I was just wondering if anyone had a dog that was missing, and if maybe that could've been the father. <br><br>One of the girls was like, "I can get a DNA test to see if it matches my dog." And I was like, "That would be awesome. Thanks so much." <br><br>So I go by her house, and we swab her male dog, and she gives us the test. I bring it to my vet and they say that they'll send both of the tests in, and compare the DNA that way. Also, it would be cheaper than two different tests. <br><br>I come home and I just start thinking. Like, what dog could've done it? Like, I know dogs can't just get pregnant with magic, and we have to have a father. So I'm just thinking about all of the dogs in my neighborhood, and if any of them look like they could be the father. <br><br>And I just can't stop thinking about it. I have to know who the father is. It's just weird to me because I have to know who the father of my dog's puppies were. And I just can't stop wondering, and I just had to know, so I decided to put the pictures on the neighborhood page, and we finally figured it out. <br><br>And I was just like, "Wow! That's a good looking dog." I told the owner "Congratulations, you're a grandpa." And she just laughed. It was really funny. <br><br>I showed her the pictures of the babies, and she just started crying. I told her "I know it's sad, but I didn't know that she was going to get pregnant." And she just said, "Oh my gosh, they would've been so cute." <br><br>I just laughed, and told her "Yeah, they would've." I told her to bring the father by, so I could see him. And she said okay. <br><br>I didn't hear back from her for awhile. But then she messaged me one day, and said that she would bring him over that afternoon. I was really excited, and I couldn't wait to see him. <br><br>So that afternoon, I get a knock on the door, and I open it up, and there he is. He was such a good looking dog. I just fell in love with him, and I started hugging him and petting him, telling him what a good boy he was. <br><br>I invited them in, and they accepted. so we sat down and talked for a bit. I told her about how we got her, and how the vet said it was a first for him. She was really surprised, and was like "So the vet has never heard of a dog getting pregnant?" <br><br>And I was like, "Yeah, he's been a vet for 30 years." And she just couldn't believe it. <br><br>We talked for about an hour, and then they had to go. I walked them outside, and I gave her granddaddy dog another hug. <br><br>And that was it. That's how my dog's babies got their daddy.
