If I'm a "luddite" for being opposed to AI, then the word has no meaning. It is only a luddite if it actively destroys technology, not just refuses to take advantage of it.

This might be something that people who are just joining this chamber might not be aware of, but in the 19th century there was a movement of workers in England who actively sought out and sabotaged the machines that were taking their jobs. They threw their clogs into the machines. These people were called **Luddites**.

You see this being used as a non-sequitur to describe people who are opposed to AI. Why are you being a luddite? Stop being a luddite! But here's the thing. If I'm a "luddite" for being opposed to AI, then the word has no meaning. I'm only a luddite if I actively destroy machines. If I only refuse to use them myself, I'm not a luddite.
