This is my story.

My name is Sarah. My sisters name is Caitlin. She was born 1928 and vanished in 1945. I was born in 1931. I’m currently 90 years old.

I found this sub getting rejected with other subs. I thought maybe this was a joke, a fun little place to sharpen your fiction teeth between projects. But then I saw it; My sisters final entry. I won’t be sharing it with you folks, but it was obvious she wrote it as it was clearly from a time before the modern era.

I have to admit, I didn’t know what this place was when I first found it. In fact I believed it was a lovely little diary that Caitlin had hidden away, she was a bright girl, but things seemed very different than I remembered them. I had thought it was just the senility of an old woman, but it wasn’t until now that I realized that things were different.

I don’t know how deep down the rabbit hole this goes. I don’t know the extent of what is real, what has changed, or what stayed the same. But I do know one thing, and that is that I want my sister back. And I am willing to do whatever it takes to find her.

I’ll start by asking you people what you know. I’ll be staying at my granddaughters house until this whole thing is over with. If any of you know what happened to my sister, you owe it to me to tell me. I will be waiting for your responses.

Also I don’t know what this is or how it works, so I’m just going to assume that it works like a letter. If that’s not true then just pretend I’m a cute old lady who doesn’t know any better.

Edit: I have gotten a few comments asking what has changed, what is different, and that sort of thing. Since people seem to be interested, I’ll tell you what I do, and don’t know, what I have found, and what I haven’t found.

1) The internet doesn’t seem to exist in my time. I have no idea what this is, or what this website is, other than the fact that it has my sisters writings. I’ve been using it since around the time of the civil war, I use it to look at maps and the occasional piece of news. I use it mostly for navigational purposes, I also use it to determine the date. I have no idea how to use it to communicate with people.

2) The world is very different. Republicans and Democrats are the two main political parties in my time, however they are very different than the ones of today. The Republicans are mostly made up of former Whig party members, while the democrats are the same as they are now. I have no idea what Republicans look like in the modern day, and to be honest, I have no desire to find out.

3) I don’t know how to end these messages. You folks seem to end them with things like “edit”, “eta”, and “Ps”, I have no idea what these things mean. I just know that they indicate that the message is over. So until I learn what you call the things you use to end messages, I’ll just be using “Yours Truly Sarah”.

Yours truly Sarah.
