The year is 1917 and it's a dark day for the American people. Perhaps the darkest the country has ever known.

Woodrow Wilson sat at the large oak desk. He was an angry man and quite frankly, shocked. The German were a lot of things but he never believed them to be crazy. Especially after what just happened. <br><br>He had just been presented with a message sent to Mexico from Germany. Mexico was in the middle of a civil war and Germany decided to act. They offered Mexico a chance to declare war on the United States and reclaim the lost territories. Texas, New Mexico and Arizona were to be given back to Mexico as long as they declared war on the United States. <br><br>President Wilson looked over the message to the Mexican government. <br><br>"We have just received information on a Mexican-American war. Mexico will be given Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Germany will also supply the Mexican government with weapons and money as well as troops should they accept our proposal." It read. <br><br>President Wilson crumpled the piece of paper in his hand. He had already received word of Mexican troops amassing at several points along the border. They were going to attack and attack soon. <br><br>He immediately called for his generals. He needed to know what they believed was the best course of action. He also called for a joint session of Congress. They were to declare war on Germany and Mexico. <br><br>The commander and chief looked out the window and sighed heavily. He had been elected into office on the motto "He kept us out of war." And now war was what he had. He had to prepare the country for war. He had to get his generals in order. It was going to be a long and bloody war.
