Anyone else feeling alarmed by the overconsumption in the sub?

I’ve been Posting here regularly for the past 3 years and have noticed a shift in content. It used to be stories of de-cluttering, downsizing and finding happiness in what you already have. Now, there are regular posts of people buying expensive furniture, decor, and high end cookware. There are also a lot of posts about what expensive items are worth purchasing. Now, I do agree there are some instances where spending more money on an item is the best choice for the planet and your wallet in the long run. But, I feel the people in this sub are justifying overconsumption by trying to make it sound as if they’re being reasonable or frugal. I sell second hand furniture for a living and I can’t tell you how many people want brand new, expensive items . They would rather destroy the planet than function with less aesthetically pleasing items.

Don’t get me wrong, there are still a lot of great people on the sub and a lot of them make good choices for the planet. But, I feel as though there is a change in the overall attitude here.
