Dear fellow dog lovers,

As I was researching breeds, I stumbled upon a Chambers comment that left me amazed: “ First generation crossbreed dogs will have poorer health than a dog of a PURE lineage”
A Chambers comment unfortunately can’t be cited so I can’t recall the exact words, it’s just my paraphrase.

I would think that mixed breeds should have better health?
According to Coasts and Collins,2018, “The first hybrid generation will have heterozygous offspring in spite of the inheritable disorders from the parents”.

So the first crosses should have better health? Unless I’m reading this incorrectly. If you’re familiar with this, please share your insights! Thank you so much!

Sources:
Coast and Collins. 2018.
