The 4K trend is massively overrated and one of the worst examples of consumerism.

First I have to admit that I haven't invested in 4K because I'm a student and don't have the money for a good system. But looking at the commercials it looks like 4K is mostly just a big marketing trick to make people buy new electronics. I know some people probably have a lot of fun with them, but reducing friction on parts of logs in a forest or even commercials for butter are just ridiculous. I don't see where the big advantage is, our eyes can't even perceive most of the details when watching a movie in a cinema or on a tv with a screen size of 50 inches.

Another reason why I think 4K is a big lie is influencers. I recently watched a video of one of the biggest German YouTubers who "tested" a high definition TV by letting a camera record his face in HD and 4K and then showing it next to each other on the TV. For me it's crazy how easily swayed some people are by this kind of advertisement in my opinion.
