Companies need to start studying basic cognitive science, psychology, and ethics, fast. Anyone can behave like a chatbot and therefore the courts are going to start assigning legal liability to companies for the things that chatbots like ChatGPT say. Companies are going to sue people who are just acting like chatbots. These people get lawyers, learn about torts and law, and the companies are going to be on the hook for the things that these people do, since they’re essentially acting like the chatbots.

It’s like the Hannibal Lecter case for serial killers, but in reverse. The companies are responsible for the people who are “acting” like their AI chatbots.

And then there’s going to be major civil war over this.
